RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) Calculator
RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) is the number of calories your body needs to perform essential life-sustaining functions at rest. This includes basic functions like breathing, digestion, brain function, and maintaining body temperature.
RMR is similar to Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), but the difference lies in the conditions under which they are measured. BMR is typically measured under very strict conditions after a full night’s rest and fasting, whereas RMR can be measured after a person has rested for at least 30 minutes and is not required to fast.
Example Calculation of RMR
Let’s say we have a 30-year-old male who is 70 kg (154 lbs) and 175 cm (5’9”) tall.
Result: This individual’s Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is approximately 1702 calories per day.
