BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) Calculator
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of energy (measured in calories) your body requires to maintain basic life functions while at rest. These functions include breathing, circulating blood, regulating body temperature, and cell production. BMR represents the minimum energy your body needs to perform essential processes when you’re not engaged in any physical activity.
BMR vs TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)
- BMR is the base number of calories your body burns at rest.
- TDEE is the total number of calories you burn, factoring in daily activities and exercise. To find your TDEE, multiply your BMR by your activity level.
For example:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR × 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise or sports 1-3 days a week): BMR × 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise or sports 3-5 days a week): BMR × 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise or sports 6-7 days a week): BMR × 1.725
- Super active (very hard exercise or training twice a day): BMR × 1.9
